About me
I live and work in North Holland, in the Netherlands, dividing my time between teaching and my passion for art. While my days are spent working with people, drawing and painting give me the space to explore another fascination: the beauty of animals.
Every animal has its own character and story. Whether it's a beloved pet, a lion, or an owl, I am inspired by the individuality that makes each species unique. With realistic portraits in Indian ink and oil paint, I try to capture not only how animals look, but also what makes them so special.
My work also comes from love and appreciation for nature. In a world where human activity increasingly shapes the environment, I believe it is important to pause and enjoy the animals and nature around us. Animals have shared our lives for thousands of years. They comfort us, inspire us, and remind us of the beauty, strength and balance found in nature.
Every drawing and every painting is a journey of discovery. With Indian ink, I seek calm in a line that can only be drawn once; with oil paint, the process is allowed to take longer, layer after layer, until the image feels right. I study every detail carefully, from the texture of fur or feathers to the light reflected in an eye, and in doing so I learn more and more about the animals I portray. Every piece is created with patience, precision and respect for my subject.

Over mij
Ik woon en werk in de kop van Noord Holland, en verdeel mijn tijd tussen het onderwijs en mijn passie voor kunst. Waar ik overdag met mensen werk, geven tekenen en schilderen me de ruimte om een andere fascinatie te ontdekken: de schoonheid van dieren.
Ieder dier heeft zijn eigen karakter en verhaal. Of het nu een geliefd huisdier is, een leeuw, of een uil — ik raak geïnspireerd door de eigenheid die elke soort uniek maakt. Met realistische portretten in Oost-Indische inkt en olieverf probeer ik niet alleen hun uiterlijk vast te leggen, maar ook dat wat hen zo bijzonder maakt.
Mijn werk komt ook voort uit liefde en waardering voor de natuur. In een wereld waarin menselijk handelen de omgeving steeds meer bepaalt, geloof ik dat het belangrijk is om stil te staan bij en te genieten van de dieren en de natuur om ons heen. Dieren delen al duizenden jaren ons leven. Ze troosten ons, inspireren ons, en herinneren ons aan de schoonheid, kracht en balans die in de natuur te vinden zijn.
Elke tekening en elk schilderij is een ontdekkingstocht. Met Oost-Indische inkt zoek ik de rust in een lijn die maar één keer goed gezet kan worden; met olieverf mag het proces juist langer duren, laag na laag, tot het beeld klopt. Ik bestudeer elk detail zorgvuldig — van de textuur van vacht of veren tot het licht dat in een oog weerspiegelt — en leer zo steeds meer over de dieren die ik portretteer. Ieder werk ontstaat met geduld, precisie en respect voor mijn onderwerp.
